Technical Support Page

Free Technical support is available for all of our customers by telephone or e-mail but we recommend that you have a glance through this page and our FAQ page first as many of the common problems can be ironed out this way.

We also offer an in-home service to residents in Lancashire whereby we come to your home or office and attempt to resolve your problems for you. This costs £25 for the call out including the first hour on-site and an additional £10 per half hour after that. We guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Dial-up account settings
You need to enter your details into a "Dial-up Networking" entry to be able to connect to the internet. You can find "Dial-up Networking" in Accessories or Communications depending upon which version of Windows you are using.

The phone number you need to dial is 0845 0502502
You also need to enter your username and password. These were included in the initial letter sent to you when you became a customer. You can always contact us to be re-advised of your details or request a change of password.
Your username will be your full e-mail address e.g. solutions@sturgessnet.co.uk

You should also set the properties of "Dial-up Networking" to NOT log on to the network and to only use TCP/IP as its protocol. This will give you the fastest possible log on speed.

e-mail client configuration
You can use any e-mail client to access your mail, we recommend Outlook or Outlook Express.
To configure the client to check your mail, you need to click on Tools and then e-mail accounts, services or options depending upon your version of Outlook.
Add an e-mail account and then use the following details, all of which were included in your welcome letter from us.
If your e-mail address is something@sturgessnet.co.uk then you need to enter sturgessnet.co.uk as both your incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) server. If you have your own domain name with us, you should enter that domain name (without the www bit) instead.
You will need to enter your full e-mail address, your username (Which is normally your e-mail address without the @sturgessnet.co.uk bit) and your password.

Once this is all done, it should work fine. You can test it by sending an e-mail to yourself. It will go from your PC, to the server, around part of the internet, back to our server and back to you. This should all happen within a second or two.
